press release

Paris, 21 June 2022 – Innovacom, which acquired an initial stake in Scintil Photonics in 2019, is participating in a second funding round launched by the supplier of ultra-high-speed optical communications. Two other current investors, Bpifrance and Supernova Invest, are also contributing to this fund-raising event led by Robert Bosch Venture Capital (RBVC). Scintil has raised a total of €17.5 million since its creation.

Dedicated to supporting innovative tech start-ups that stand out as trailblazers in the environmental, economic and industrial transition, Innovacom is increasing its equity investment in Scintil Photonics by participating in the young company’s new €13.5 million funding round through Technocom 3.

Scintil Photonics develops photonic integrated circuits enabling ultra-high-speed data transmission intended for cloud, datacentre and mobility applications. The fabless company was founded in November 2018 by Sylvie Menezo, formerly associated with the CEA-LETI microelectronics research centre and current CEO of Scintil Photonics, and Pascal Langlois, former Chairman of the Management Board of Tronics Microsystems, who serves as Chairman of Scintil Photonics.

With this new equity funding round, the company intends to fund the launch of a pilot product line, the first step on the road to industrialising its technology, and to intensify its worldwide marketing efforts.

“As part of a booming photonics sector at the very core of the Deep Tech ecosystem, Scintil Photonics won us over with the possibilities embodied by its technological solution: a material increase in transmission speeds coupled with reduced energy consumption. That equation directly speaks to the environmental issues surrounding digital technologies”, stated Vincent Deltrieu, Partner and member of the Innovacom Management Board, as well as Director of Scintil Photonics. “We are pleased to see a solution like that offered by Scintil, a disruptive innovation with keen backing, gain access to wide-ranging markets. As such, it is only natural for us to reassert our support for Scintil Photonics as this new chapter begins”.

“Innovacom’s involvement and renewed trust illustrate the progress we have made over the past three years and demonstrate our ability to roll out this entirely new solution in fast-growing market segments”, stressed Sylvie Menezo, CEO of Scintil Photonics.
