Landis+Gyr and MicroEJ at CES: Making it Easier to Develop and Launch Custom Energy Apps

ATLANTA, GA. – Jan. 10, 2019 – Landis+Gyr (LAND.SW) promoted its partnership with MicroEJ at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, highlighting the companies’ development strategy for smart grid and smart infrastructure applications.
As a pioneer in programming apps for utility distribution and edge devices, Landis+Gyr is working with MicroEJ to promote the creation of new software apps that enhance energy management for utilities and consumers. Landis+Gyr is introducing Gridstream® Connect Apps as a part of the Gridstream Connect IoT solution portfolio. Designed to support grid-edge applications that require distributed intelligence and remote decision making, this new offering includes support for creating custom utility applications through the Gridstream Connect App Studio and the ability to leverage existing applications through the Gridstream Connect App Marketplace.
“Many of our customers have first-hand experience with the value these apps bring to their existing technology deployments. Our goal is to make it easier for developers and utilities to create, upload and run apps on their devices,” said John Radgowski, Vice President of Portfolio Management at Landis+Gyr. “Over time, utilities will be able to access and share apps through the App Marketplace to take advantage of new ways to best utilize technology for energy management.”
Examples of Gridstream Connect Apps already deployed by utilities include meter-based flexible billing and demand management used for billing and load management programs, along with apps that convert a smart meter into a distribution system sensor.
Gridstream Connect links intelligent devices with flexible communication options for a variety of functions ranging from advanced metering and distribution automation to consumer engagement and street light management. This enables a variety of grid edge applications for smart communities, while supporting new energy distribution strategies.
